Statues crumble, buildings fall
Printed words burn, so does art
What took a lifetime to build
Can be killed in seconds.

Every song ends and the tune fades
Every thought reaches a conclusion
And is derailed by the next:
Nothing lasts forever.

The greatest feats of any time
Are never recorded by anyone
Never yield fame or glory and
Are never tangible.

Yet any change for the better
Makes no real difference
Same with change for the worst;
All ledgers balance.

The most evil deeds
Dilute like the good
You’ll survive this
Don’t pay it forward.

The best you can do is do your best
Do your duty in all things
